About
Scholars Strike for Liberation (SSL) is a virtual platform that hosts teach-ins that critiques and actively refuse the ongoing policies and practices of the white supremacist, settler colonial, capitalist and carceral university. SSL brings together Scholars, Students, and activists for bold conversations and critiques on settler colonial, white supremacist, capitalist and militarized, practices and policies of the university and nation states.
Formerly known as Scholar Strike Canada created in 2020 by Beverly Bain and Min Sook Lee, Scholars Strike for Liberation (SSL) has expanded its reach to engage issues globally. The agenda for teach-ins emerges with the creator Beverly Bain, scholars, activists, and students nationally and internationally.
Over the past two and a half years we have witnessed universities and western nations become more aggressive, repressive, militaristic and imperialists as they strengthen their support for genocides and greater accumulation of wealth. SSL is committed to insurgent knowledges and practices beyond the space of the university. SSL is committed to establishing networks beyond borders to create spaces and places otherwise.
